Recently, Rajesh Puri had reached an award function in Delhi as a chief guest, during which a heart-wrenching incident happened with him. Actually, he was kidnapped. The actor himself has narrated his ordeal.
A heart wrenching incident happened with Rajesh Puri
In a conversation with ETimes TV, Rajesh Puri told about the shocking incident that happened with him, how he was first trapped and called to Delhi to attend a fake event. The actor revealed that earlier this month he got a call from a person named Shivam who invited him to an event in Delhi. This event was to be held on 8 September and it was being said to be a government affiliated program.
Puri also received Rs 35,000 from the scammers and was also given a return ticket from Delhi for September 9. The veteran actor was also asked for his photographs for the event poster and was even asked to record a speech for the event. Rajesh revealed that everything seemed fine but when he asked for the event invitation, he did not receive it.
Called to Delhi on the pretext of a false event
The Saath Nibhana Saathiya fame actor had also reached Delhi to attend the event and was welcomed by two men at the Delhi airport. Puri further revealed that, “They took me in a taxi, and after about an hour, they stopped and put my luggage in the car. The new car had no license plate, and the driver was wearing a mask, which made me suspicious. When I asked, they said it was a new car, but something seemed fishy.”
Rajesh Puri was kidnapped on the pretext of a fake event
Rajesh Puri further said that the car started moving towards Meerut and when he asked questions, he did not get the right answers from those people. Puri said that then he realized that something was wrong and then he started telling them about his strong connections in Delhi to make them uncomfortable. After this, the actor told that those people took him to a dhaba 12 km away from Meerut. At the dhaba, Rajesh managed to talk to one of the people who had kidnapped him. The kidnappers informed Rajesh that he had been kidnapped and asked him to leave because there was no event happening and it was all fake.
When Rajesh demanded to be left alone as the place was deserted, the kidnappers discussed among themselves. After discussing among themselves, the kidnappers agreed to leave Rajesh at the border, where the actor’s brother-in-law came to pick him up.
The kidnapper told why he kidnapped Rajesh Puri
Rajesh further said that later in the night he got a call from one of the kidnappers and he told him why he was kidnapped. Rajesh said that the kidnapper told that his car was being chased by armed men, and I was being taken to a remote area, where they planned to demand a ransom of one or two crores. The story told to them was that the person who sent the kidnappers had said that the actor owed him Rs 35 lakh, but later the kidnappers realized that it was a lie.
Will Rajesh Puri file a police complaint?
When Rajesh Puri was asked if he plans to lodge a police complaint, the actor revealed that his lawyers have advised him not to do so as it might anger the kidnappers. He expressed his relief and said that he feels lucky to have escaped safely. The actor further advised everyone to verify everything and be alert about such incidents.
